When we treat others with respect and caring the best in them usually comes out. The same thing happens when we treat ourselves the same way.
What kind of friend are you to yourself?
Are you critical of yourself? Do you focus more on what’s wrong rather than what’s right? Imagine treating yourself like you would to a friend. Would you be encouraging, warm and empathetic?
What would a typical day look and feel like if you were on your side?
It’s Good to be good to yourself
- It’s common knowledge that we should treat people with dignity and respect. Including yourself.
- The more influence you have over someone the more responsibility we have to treat them well. Think of a mother with a young baby, or a surgeon whose patient’s life is in his hands. Who affects you the most? Who has more influence over your life than anybody else? Who do you spend more time with than anybody else on this planet? Who controls what you think, believe, feel and do? Yourself. No matter where you go or what you do, you take yourself with you. You have a responsibility to treat yourself with compassion because of the influence you have over yourself.
- Being good to yourself is good for others. When you improve your well-being you usually become more patient, cooperative and caring.
Let’s turn these insights into action. Ask yourself:
- How would it affect your relationships of you were more patient, calmer and understanding?
- What are some of the ways you can start treating yourself better?
- How would you show someone that you love and care for them? What would you say and do? How can you apply the same actions to yourself?
If you’re still feeling lost, confused and want to create a healthier relationship with your emotions then let’s chat. You’ll gain more clarity & step into your true strength.
Thank you for the gentle reminder to keep Self at the forefront of all compassion. We cannot give from empty wells, so it’s paramount in today’s society to practice Self Care.
