Win The Day

You never have to recover from a good start. How you start your day sets the tone for the rest of the day. When you set a positive and strong mental state that will have a profound effect on your performance. Here are some powerful & easy ways to start off on the right note.

Create A Blueprint

Create a blueprint describing exactly how you’d look, feel & act as you go through the day & your life.

What will your voice, body language, even breathing be like when you’re operating at your best? Take this opportunity to get some detail.

  • How will you appear to others?
  • What kinds of things will you do?
  • What kinds of things will you be saying?
  • What kinds of ideas will you generate, what decisions will you make & what actions will you take?

See Yourself Win The Day

Each morning do this. See yourself displaying all the positive thoughts, feelings & actions related to your goals. The mind can’t tell the difference between something that’s imagined and something real. Doing this daily exercise will create a strong blueprint in your mind that makes it easier to do in reality.

Affirm How You Want To Be

Your self-talk influences most of how you feel. Many of the events we experience are neither good nor bad. It’s our interpretation of them is that gives them meaning. Every morning say affirmations that prime your mind to be at its best. Speak that which you wish to become, not what you’re afraid of. Regardless of what your present reality might look like. You can try these affirmations out for size:

  • I can overcome every obstacle I encounter
  • I see life’s difficulties as learning experiences
  • I am in complete control of my thoughts & emotions
  • I persist with confidence
  • I think like a winner
  • I can do anything I put my mind to
  • I am strong.

Feed Your Mind

You’re what you eat. You’re also a product of what you consume mentally. Each morning read books, articles & blog posts that inspire & educate you. Listen to podcasts that challenge your thinking & feed you with positive messages. This will help you to think & act at your best.

Superhero Training

Role Models

Think of a situation where you want to be at your best. Now think of a ‘hero’ – it could be a business leader, a movie hero, athlete or even a fictional character. Close your eyes & see them dealing with the situation ‘heroically’.

Imagine being them for a few moments, experiencing that situation as them. Do this until you start to feel a sense of their qualities in yourself.

Super Hero Qualities

Think of the usual powers of the more popular superheroes and write them down before you start your day. ‘Priming’ your mind with qualities and positive characteristics positively influences your behaviour. In one study, people were asked to write down as many superpowers as they could think of. In the months afterwards, they felt more confident, optimistic & determined.

Prime your mind with ‘able words’ before you start each day. Words such as:

  • Strength
  • Focus
  • Calmness
  • Intelligence
  • Humour
  • Resilience
  • Gratitude
  • Charisma
  • Perseverance
  • Confidence
  • Determination.

Write them down each day, then run your eyes up & down your list – it doesn’t matter if it’s a similar list each day. Reflect upon what each word means to you. You can use my list as a starting point.

What this does is create a blueprint for your mind to follow. You’re training yourself to focus on what it is that you want to be, do & create. And keeping your mind off what you don’t want. Commit to doing this for the next 30 days and notice how your days are more satisfying.
